With an insatiable appetite for living life to its fullest, Shawn has spent his entire adult life traveling the world, leading adventure expeditions and teaching masterclasses on advanced photography. Growing up with a passion for creating beautiful pictures of where ever he went, Shawn knew that photography was his calling. His collegiate studies at Brooks Institution were immediately followed by traveling on global assignments for numerous international adventure magazine publishers.
“The Idiots Guide to Digital Photography" is Shawn’s most recent best-selling published book, written for Alpha Publishing and is available everywhere books are sold. He is a global product ambassador of brands Canon Cameras, Gitzo Tripods, Polar Pro Filters and Tenba camera bags. He speaks and lectures at universities and colleges, and teaches photography masterclasses, intensive multi-day workshops and leads photo retreats throughout the world.

AnneMarie has spent her life traveling the globe from her home in California, and often finds herself in Croatia many times a year visiting her extensive family. She absolutely loves sharing her passion of the many treasures of Croatia, as well as it’s old-world culture & history and it’s stunning beauty with all of our guests. With extensive adventure travel to far-off locales, her cultural education and assimilation began at a very young age. This has become the corner-stone and foundation for her love of adventure, travel, family, nature, cuisine, culture and the arts.
AnneMarie graduated summa cum laude at FIDM: Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and had a long career working with top fashion brands in both NYC and Los Angeles. After many years in the corporate world of fashion, AnneMarie decided to nurture other areas of interest, such as studying the culinary arts with emphasis on pâtissière, and chocolatier. She has also studied extensively in nutrition and wellness, and graduated from the New York Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is a Certified Health Coach and her dreams have become quite a reality she says, where she finally gets to share all of what she’s studied with the world through her partnership with the Adventures to Croatia team.

JD Platt is a native of Bend, Oregon. He has never been one for the status quo and is a renaissance man with a penchant for exploring and adventure. He has been an elite level professional snowboarder traveling and competing on the World Tour, a reality TV personality and a canine entertainer. He’s an innovative thinker with a love of adventure sports, dogs, and the great outdoors, so it comes as no surprise that his standup paddle board company matches all three of his passions.
Armed with an active imagination, a successful history in professional sports, and a fierce drive to expand the world of standup paddle boarding, JD set out to craft boards that the whole family could enjoy. From K9s to kids, it’s appropriate that JD would continue his tradition of high flying stunts with snowboarding, with the design of his Freestyle paddle board and his K9 Kings Flying Dog Show with the K9 touring board. The SUP freestyle revolution is a rising term used to describe flashy, playful, or otherwise impressive moves performed on a stand up paddle board. It’s about wowing your audience while making it look effortless – like dancing on water.
