Let me start somewhere near the beginning of why we do this. The Adriatica is a “private concierge services” company with more than 25+ years working for others in the travel and hospitality businesses. We dreamt of doing it for ourselves, so in 2016, The Adriatica was born and our Private Travel Concierge doors were opened.

Honestly, it was scary for us to leave the comfort of the paycheck from others behind and do it ourselves. When we started, and every day since, our goal has been to turn an average family trip into a very fun, exciting, informative and bucket list retreat vacation for you and your family / group. We have spent numerous years researching and leading adventures to the exact locations we take you. We take all of the guesswork out of finding the best locations, and when to be there to make magical moments happens, as well as photos too. Part of how we do that is to monitor the local weather, the tourist patterns but also knowing the areas intimately, the culture and many of the local businesses too. This only happens from our having feet on the ground for many years and having relationships with local businesses and knowing what private guides are best suited for what area. When we created Adventures to Croatia, it was our mission to create an environment for all of our guests to experience the most fun, positive, memorable, enjoyable and exciting retreat vacation imaginable. We do this business because we love it, not for any other reason. And we know you’ll love it here in Croatia too.

On our Photography and Adventure retreats / vacations, you will immediately know that you are in good hands with Anne, Shawn and our team. For most other tour providers providing this type of retreat, or vacation trips in a foreign location, it tends to be very difficult and cumbersome for them as they have no network for when something arises.  Often you’re really left to deal with any issues that arise by yourself. With that in mind, we only do retreat vacations in Croatia because we not only love it here, we have extensive family and friends here. And for Anne, she’s been coming to Croatia since she was a very young girl visiting family.  For me, i’ve been traveling to Croatia multiple times a year since 2007 and still love every trip back.

Previous to 2007, Shawn traveled the world as an adventure and assignment photographer for well known international Adventure Magazines. He would take professional groups to very extreme locations to create / shoot magazine editorials, advertising campaigns or feature films. Some places included far off locales in Africa, the Saharan Desert, many regions in South America, numerous places in Europe, as well as a hand full of remote islands in the oceans of the world. With that experience, he’d makes you feel very comfortable that we have the experience, but are overly capable to plan everything for you to enjoy a fantastic vacation or photo retreat in wonderful Croatia with us.

When it comes to our Photo Retreats, the technical jargon of photography or photographing in a variety of lighting conditions is made easy for you. Please know that both Anne and Shawn are very well versed and highly educated in both photography and communication design, and will be there every step of the way to help you make the best pictures possible. Rest assure, our assistance and guidance does not start, nor finish with the days of your retreat. Weeks, if not months in advance, you will have access to both partners in your preparation to join us in Croatia. Shawn currently coaches many of his students and clients digitally via Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom and on the ole fashioned dial-up telephone. There, you can discuss everything from what you should and need to bring with you, to your personal photo equipment needs and wants, to the best camera bags, tripods, camera lenses, filters, travel luggage, sunscreen, adventure attire and even whether you might want a new pair of shoes for the trip, or not.
